1) Ollywood Actor Anubhav Mohanty filed his nomination papers for Rajya Sabha as a BJD candidate. The seat had fallen vacant after AU Singhdeo, who was elected earlier, was asked to vacate it to contest the Assembly polls, which he eventually lost.
2) The rechecking and re-additon of +2 answer sheets, have begun at the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha headquarters in Bhubaneswar. While 13,213 students have applied for rechecking in Bhubaneswar, 5,200 have applied for the same at three zonal offices at Berhampur, Sambalpur and Baripada.
3) Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik wrote a fresh letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking more assistance with the argument that the Railways had earned Rs 14,000 crore in the financial year 2013-14. He also sought the ‘National Project’ status for Bhadrachalam Road-Talcher, Sambalpur-Berhampur and Rayagada-Gopalpur railway projects. Earlier, Naveen had met both PM and Railway Minister DV Sadananda Gowda, seeking Rs 3,160 crore package in the upcoming Railway Budget.
