Officials and staff appointed on contractual basis for implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) across the State arrived at Bhubaneswar on Tuesday under the banner of Odisha MNREGA Karmachari Maha Sangha with demands of regularisation and increase in wages.
The strike has already started in all districts across Odisha from 2nd October. Continuing their protest around 8,000 employees including DEO/GRS/MGNREGA ASST./ACP/GPTA/APO/MC from all corner of the State gathered in the Capital city today and staged a dharna over their 14-point charter of demands.
The members submitted a 14-point charter memorandum, mentioning that the contractual employees need to get same benefits as regular employees. An employee engaged for the same work, cannot be paid less than another, who performs the same duties and responsibilities.
