BSE Sensex surges after Mulayam’s Assurance to UPA
TNI Bureau: The BSE Sensex climbed 500 points after Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav announced that his party will continue to give external support to the UPA government. Along with market, the domestic currency rose to 53.50 against dollar on Friday.
The centre’s decision on allowing FDI in retail boosted the Indian market, indicating that market condition will be recovered in coming weeks after the foreign investment in India.
The BSE Sensex climbed 444.42 points, higher at 18,793.67 at 12:40, while the Nifty was trading at 5,690.45 – up 136.20 points on Friday.
The top gainers on the Sensex were BHEL (up by 4.47%), ICICI Bank (up by 3.63%), Mahindra & Mahindra (up by 3.45%), Sterlite Industries (up by 3.13%) and Tata Power (up by 2.79%).
