Barabati Stadium loses T20, to get ODI
After the pullout of West Indies players in the middle of the tour, Barabati Stadium in Cuttack lost a chance to host the lone T20 between India and West Indies, which was scheduled to be held on October 22. However, it may still get one ODI to be played between India and Sri Lanka.
Barabati had never hosted an international T20 match. The venue was all set to become the 10th international T20 venue of India, but that did not happen. As Sri Lanka agreed to play 5 ODIs in India, Barabati is all set to get one of those ODIs.
Apart from Cuttack, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Ahmedabad are the other possible venies for the ODI series that will be held between November 1 and 15. The details of schedule and fixture will be announced soon.
The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has requested the BCCI to grant first ODI to Barabati, Cuttack, as the historic Bali Yatra will begin on November 6. No matches would be possible in Cuttack during the Bali Yatra.
