Quota Bill tabled in Rajya Sabha, SP MPs walk out of House

Date:

TNI Bureau: Samajwadi Party members walked out of the House protesting the quota bill after the MoS PMO V Narayanasamy on Thursday introduced the bill in Rajya Sabha that would provide reservation to SCs/STs in government job promotions.

Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley addressed the House over the proposed quota bill. Soon after the introduction of the bill, there was a huge uproar over the bill.

The SP members have been opposing the bill and creating ruckus over past three days. The BSP chief Mayawati, who had talked tough against Chairman Hamid Ansari on Wednesday, backed the bill saying, the SCs and STs need promotions in government jobs. She also said that she was always in favour of giving reservation to people those are from upper caste but economically weak.

The voting on promotion quota bill is likely to take place on Monday.
