18 Lakh Employees in Uttar Pradesh go on Strike

Date:

TNI Bureau: Around 18 lakh government employees in Uttar Pradesh have gone on a flash strike, protesting against the SC/ST quota bill that was introduced in Rajya Sabha today. They vowed to continue their stir till the bill is not withdrawn.

Employees affiliated to various workers unions, teachers and other departments are taking part in the strike. They alleged that SC/ST quota in promotions of government jobs would disturb the basic structure of the constitution and won’t be in accordance with the right to equality.

The Samajwadi Party workers today staged a walkout from Rajya Sabha after two members of their party were asked to leave by the Chair.
