TNI Bureau: The Koraput District Administration’s decision to ban non-vegetarian food on January 26 is both unnecessary and deeply problematic. Republic Day is a celebration of constitutional values, freedom, diversity, and individual choice, not a day for imposing personal or cultural preferences through executive orders.
Such a ban has no legal or rational basis and unfairly targets dietary habits of large sections of society, including tribals and marginalized communities for whom non-veg is a staple.
Instead of symbolic moral policing and retrograde decisions, the administration should focus on meaningful civic engagement and inclusive celebrations that truly reflect the spirit of the Constitution.
