TNI Bureau: In a gruesome incident, a local Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader, Ranjit Singh Rana killed a cop, who had protested the eve-teasing of his daughter. The politician and associate killed Assistant Sub-Inspector Ravinderpal Singh in full public view.

The police arrested Rana and two of his aides. Three guns were seized from them. The Akali Dal has expelled Rana from the party.

The slain ASI’s daughter was constantly harassed by Rana and his aides. After coming to know about this, Ravinderpal confronted them, but Ranjit Rana shot him in the legs. His daughter too suffered bullet wounds in hand.

Ravinderpal Singh was on his way to hospital, when Rana and his accomplices attacked him and fired at his chest from a close range. He was rushed to hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead.

This shocking incident has raised questions over the law and order situation in Amritsar. Opposition Congress has taken up this matter and blamed the Punjab government for the mess.
