Odisha Assembly Updates: Opposition stalls House
TNI Bureau: The Opposition Congress stalled the proceedings of the House for the second consecutive day demanding a debate on the farmers’ issue on Friday. The opposition members could not allow to run the House smoothly in the morning and they climbed into the well with placards and anti-govt slogans.
The Opposition has been demanding discussion on the farmers’ issue. They demanded Rs 300 per quintal as compensation for the poor paddy farmers, who have faced losses due to lack of rain in the state.
The Congress members expressed their deep concern over the agriculture losses saying, the ruling BJD is not showing sympathy towards the farmers of the state.
However, Speaker of the House, Pradip Kumar Amat managed to run the House during question hour in the morning for 20 minutes. Later, the house was adjourned till 3 pm following ruckus.
Despite Speaker’s appeal, the opposition members disrupted the proceedings of the House today.
