ID Proof Mandatory for Train Travel from Dec 1st

TNI Bureau: All railway passengers in reserved compartments will have to carry identity proof from 1st of December to facilitate genuine passengers to avail confirm tickets and reduce the scope for misuse of tickets by touts.

The required ID proofs include voter ID card, passport, PAN card, driving licence, Aadhar card ,photo identity card having serial number issued by the central and state government, student identity card with photograph issued by recognised school and college, nationalised bank passbook with photograph and credit cards issued by banks with laminated photograph.

Passengers failing to produce original identity proof in sleeper class, as and when asked for, will be treated as without ticket. Passengers traveling on a Tatkal or an e-ticket are also required to carry I-cards while undertaking train journey.

The rule will apply for all forms of ticket, including those for sleeper class, issued by Railways through computerised passenger reservation system or Internet.
