Anil Ambani, Tina to appear as Witnesses in 2G Case
Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group Chairperson Anil Ambani, his wife Tina and 11 others have been summoned by a Delhi court to appear as the prosecution witnesses in the 2G spectrum allocation case, which is being investigated by the CBI.
Special CBI judge OP Saini on Friday summoned 13 people including Anil and Tina as witnesses to ascertain the alleged investment of over Rs 900 crore by Reliance ADA group in Swan Telecom Pvt Ltd, which is facing trial along with its promoters Shahid Usman Balwa and Vinod Goenka in the 2G case.
The CBI in its plea had sought summoning of Anil Ambani and his wife Tina Ambani, who can throw light on the issues of alleged investment by their companies. Although, Anil might not have been a part of the decisions taken on incorporation of the alleged shell companies including Swan Telecom Pvt Ltd, Tiger Traders Pvt Ltd, Zebra Consultants Pvt Ltd, he might have aware of the matters.
The CBI sought appearance of Tina as prosecution witness, as she had presided over some relevant meetings. The agency said that Tina was holding a key position in Reliance ADA group and she had limitless power to transact on behalf of Tiger Traders and Swan Telecom.
All the witnesses will start to testify in the case from July 22. However, the exact date when Anil will be called to appear in the court is not yet clear.
