Sunita Williams to watch London Olympics from Space

TNI Bureau: Indian-origin astronaut Sunita Williams made her second space flight on a Russian Soyuz rocket along with two colleagues yesterday. Ms. Williams, who is also a sportswoman told about her expectation to watch the London Olympics 2012 from space, before the launch.

The Soyuz rocket was successfully fired from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan (Russia) on Sunday taking three astronauts including Ms. Williams. This is the second space voyage for her.

Sunita Willams, who is one of the crew members to the Russian Soyuz team, is a pride to India for her Indian origin. Interestingly, she was actively taking part in different events such as swimming, Cross country (Athletics), Jumps, bike races and some other sports during her days in the Naval Academy.

Now, as William is heading towards the International Space Station she informed about her hope to watch the London Olympics, the international sporting event beginning from July 27, from the space.

Further, when quizzed about whether they are going to play any Olympic Games on board she casually said that they probably would get a chance to go for sort of relay race there if possible.

Williams also informed about her conception about the aim of the Olympics and this space voyage both of which she thinks to be identical as the two of them works for friendship and global cooperation.
