Dalit Girl ‘gang raped’, Burnt Alive
Bhubaneswar: A 16 year old girl of Mathatentulia village under Gondia police station jurisdiction in Dhenkanal District was allegedly gang-raped and burnt alive on 12th March 2013 night. No arrests have been made so far in this case.
As per the FIR launched in Gondia Police Station, the victim was asleep with her grandmother when two unidentified persons broke into the room and kidnapped her. They took the girl to an abandoned room 100 meters away from her house and gang raped her. The accused persons then set the room afire and fled.
The incident occurred in the absence of the girl’s parents, who were away in Cuttack to attend a wedding. The matter came to light on the subsequent day when the burnt body was found in the torched room near the victim’s house. But as per sources, 95 percent of the body was burnt.
An FIR in this regard was filed by the deceased’s father at Gondia police station on 13th March 2013. After receiving information, Gondia police station Inspector in charge Ugrasen Pradhan visited the spot and seized the body and sent for post-mortem. Police said a manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits. The incident has sent a shockwave in the area.
