TNI Bureau: Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh once again dragged media attention for a controversial remark. He called Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed, who is accused in the Parliament attack, as Hafiz Saheb.

While defending Union Home Minister Sushi Kumar Shinde’s controversial remark over RSS and BJP, Digvijaya Singh landed in another controversy calling ‘Hafiz Saheb’. The media highlighted the word again and again to show the Congress leaders’ perception towards the terrorist.

Digvijaya was talking to reporters to back Shinde, who is facing criticism from the BJP for the statement at Congress’ Chintan Shivir in Jaipur. He had told that RSS was promoting Hindu terrorism through their training camps and BJP was a part of the Sangh Parivar.

The BJP has demanded an apology from Congress President Sonia Gandhi and sought an explanation from Digvijaya Singh over the issue.

The UN has declared Jamaat-ud-Dawah, which is a changed name of LeT, a terrorist organization in December 2008 and Hafiz a terrorist. Last year in April, the US also had announced a bounty of $10 million on him for his alleged role in the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

Divijaya is known for making controversial remarks against RSS and BJP. Earlier, he had called Al Qaeda Chief Osama bin Laden as ‘Osamaji’. Shinde had also faced criticism for calling Hafiz as ‘Sri Hafiz’ and ‘Mr Hafiz’.
