TNI Bureau: While Delhi police have filed an FIR against 8 protesters in connection with the death of police constable Subhash Tomar, an eyewitness refuted police’s claim that the constable was attacked or beaten up by the protesters on Sunday. He claimed that constable Tomar simply collapsed while walking.
Yogendra, who claims to be an eyewitness, refused Delhi police commissioner’s claim saying there was no injury on Tomar’s body as he has seen him in the hospital. The constable was not attacked by the protesters. “I saw him in hospital and and his body didn’t have any injuries. He wasn’t trampled by a mob, he wasn’t assaulted. He just collapsed while walking. I don’t think people should be arrested over this,” he told the media channels
Yogendra’s claim came after Delhi police commissioner said in a press conference that Tomar died after being injured by the protesters at India Gate on Sunday. He was put on ventilator and declared dead on Tuesday morning. The post-mortem report will come after two days.

If Yogendra’s claim will be analysed, the role of Dellhi police in the protests will be questionable. Reacting to the statement, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “Yogendra, a journo student, eyewitness to Tomar’s death. His account opp of police account. Is police lying?”
It can be noted that one of the members’ belonging to Kejriwal’s political party was arrested among 8 accused in the case.
Kejriwal questioned on the arrest of 8 people in this connection. He said that there was not a single proof against the protesters, but the charges were framed against them. He also said that Baba Ramdev, General VK Singh and also himself could be framed as they have been against corruption.
He further said that if there was no evidence against the arrested youths, he and his party will stand by them. However, if anyone including his party worker Chaman will be found guilty for the death of constable, should be punished by the court.
