TNI Bureau: Odisha’s para archer Payal Nag was felicitated by the Sports & Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha, for her outstanding performance at the World Para Archery Series 2026 held in Bangkok, where she won two gold medals and secured qualification for the upcoming Para Asian Games.
In recognition of her achievement, Payal was awarded a cash incentive of ₹5.46 lakh for winning the two gold medals. She also received an additional ₹3.23 lakh for the purchase of sports equipment to support her future training and competitions.
The felicitation ceremony was attended by Odisha Sports & Youth Services Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, Kantabanji MLA Laxman Bag, and officials of the Sports & Youth Services Department, who congratulated Payal and wished her success in future international events, including the Para Asian Games.
Praising her achievement, Minister Suryabanshi Suraj said Payal’s success has brought pride to Odisha and the country and reflects the growing strength of para sports in the state.
Expressing gratitude, Payal Nag said the support and encouragement from the Odisha Government, the Sports Minister, and MLA Laxman Bag have motivated her to work harder and continue bringing laurels to the nation.
The Odisha Government reiterated its commitment to supporting athletes through financial assistance, modern infrastructure, and high-performance training facilities.
