TNI Bureau: In a major relief to Zee News editors Sudhir Chaudhary and Samir Ahluwalia, a Delhi court on Monday granted them bail in extortion case filed by Congress MP Naveen Jindal, who is also the owner of Jindal Steel and Power Limited.

The court granted them bail asking them to furnish a personal bond of Rs 50,000 each and surety of the same amount.

Sudhir Chaudhary (head of Zee News) and Samir Ahluwalia (head of Zee Business) were arrested for allegedly demanding Rs.100 crore from the Jindal Group in the form of advertisements.

They had been booked under Section 384 (extortion), 420 (cheating), 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

According to Jindal, ZEE News initially telecast negative stories on coalgate against his company and when their official met the reporter and editors, they demanded Rs 100 crore.
