Bharat Bandh: Buses set on fire in Bangalore, Bengal

TNI Bureau: The 12-hour ‘Bharat Bandh’ turned violent in many states, including Karnataka, Maharashtra and West Bengal. Several buses were set on fire during the protests today.

In Bangalore, three buses were set on fire, forcing the authorities to cancel the bus services in the city. Another bus was reportedly set ablaze in North 24 Pargana district of West Bengal.

In Pune, protesters damaged 13 public transport buses during their protest march. In Mumbai, 26 BEST buses were damaged, when the bandh supporters pelted stones. Bus, train, taxi and auto rickshaw services have been hit across the country, as the ‘Bharat Bandh’ call given by BJP-led NDA and Left parties has evoked strong response.
