Sheila goes to Gujarat to unveil Congress Manifesto

Date:

TNI Bureau: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit released the Congress Party manifesto for the upcoming Gujarat Assembly polls, making it clear that the Congress has no strong leader in the state to take on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

The Congress manifesto was released in a video format showing a number of promises including affordable housing for women, free laptop to students, which were announced earlier.

However, this time, Congress preferred digital campaign to reach out to the public. Gujarat Congress leader Arjun Modwadia said that the party will provide electricity connections to all the farmers and 85% local youths will be given jobs in all private and government sectors if they come to power in the polls.

The manifesto said that Congress will give subsidized diesel, pipeline gas, irrigation, vacant government posts, Green Gujarat, all-round development and satellite townships. They also promised to give subsidy to drought-hit farmers in Kutch and Saurashtra or Kathiwar region.

Congress manifesto was released a day after Modi released the BJP’s manifesto on Monday. However, commenting on Modi’s promises, Congress said that the developmental plans are 17 years old.

Lashing at Modi, Modhwadia said that the law and order situation in the state was completely worst as over 14,000 kids were reportedly missing. Crime has increased during Modi’s regime. He also slammed Modi for not reopening over 57,000 industrial units, which have been shut down for various reasons.
