Lok Sabha to debate FDI in Retail under Rule 184

Date:

TNI Bureau: The logjam in Lok Sabha has finally came to an end, as the government agreed to debate the FDI in Retail under Rule 184, which entails voting. Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar adopted the motion, ending the impasse. The debate will take place on December 4 and 5.

Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj has welcomed the decision and said that the BJP always wanted a in-depth debate on the issue of FDI in Retail. The DMK has already made it clear that it would go with the government if there is a voting, even if it has some reservations in this matter.

The Samajwadi Party and the BSP, which are opposed to the FDI in Retail, haven’t yet decided on voting. They could abstain when the voting takes place. The NDA, BJD, Left, AIADMK and many other smaller parties have decided to vote against the motion.
