Liquor Baron Ponty Chadha, Brother killed in Family Feud

TNI Bureau: In a shocking tragedy this afternoon, liquor baron Ponty Chadha alias Gurdeep Singh Chadha, who was controlling a business empire of Rs 6,000 crore, was shot dead in a family feud. His brother Hardeep Chadha was also killed. The incident occurred at their farm house in Chattarpur in South Delhi.

Another security guard was injured in the gunbattle. Ponty and Hardeep had reportedly met at the farm house to sort out a property dispute. the argument turned ugly, as both fired at each other. The security guards from both sides joined the firing.

Hardeep and Ponty died on the spot. According to police sources, Ponty’s brother received 8 bullets, while Ponty himself received 6 or more bullets.The Delhi Police have launched a probe into this incident.

Chadha’s Wave Group comprises of real estate business with several high notch residential projects, multiplexes, cinemas, distilleries, sugar and paper mills, poultry and film production. He owned properties and businesses across North and Central India, including Delhi, Noida, Jaipur, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and other parts of Uttar Pradesh.

Ponty had complete control over the liquor business in Uttar Pradesh. He was close to many politicians, including Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayawati. Even the Income Tax sleuths failed to trap him during the raids in February 2012. He later reported an “undisclosed income” of Rs 175 crore and Rs 54 crore tax.
