TNI Bureau: Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) celebrates its 24th foundation day today with Covid-19 restrictions.
Addressing the foundation day party Supremo Naveen Patnaik today stressed on women empowerment for a new Odisha.
While speaking on the occasion he said that BJD is a party catering to all social groups, especially for the poor and the marginal groups and women.
BJD will continue to press for 33% reservation for women in Parliament. BJD strongly believed in the women empowerment.
Reiterating that Odisha Government is firm in its commitment to women empowerment, BJD had reserved one third of Lok Sabha seats for women in Odisha.
Besides empowering women politically, BJD Government has been organising self-help groups in order to empower women economically since the ruling party assumed power two decades ago.
Odisha Government has launched two flagship programmes for women, the Mission Shakti for empowerment and economic development of women and “Mamata” scheme for health, nutrition and welfare of pregnant women and lactating mothers.
