TNI Bureau: Indian woman dentist, who recently died in Ireland after being refused for an abortion, her death triggered the country to review the ban on the termination of pregnancy after Indian government condemned and intervened into the matter. The Ministry of External Affairs said that the Indian embassy in Dublin is monitoring the issue and the probe results were awaited.

Savita Halappanavar suffered a miscarriage and died on Oct 28 after being denied an abortion in Ireland. Her parents slammed the abortion law of Ireland over their daughter’s tragic death. She was admitted to Galaway, university hospital, for treatment following the complications of her 17-week pregnancy.

According to reports, doctors rejected Savita’s request for abortion under strict law of the country, even on medical grounds. It was clear that the child could not be saved, and abortion was required. However, Savita was the worst victim of Ireland’s law.

Savita’s parents alleged that their daughter died due to negligence of Irish doctors. Two inquires have been ordered by the Irish authorities. Savita was declared dead on Oct 28. The autopsy report said that she died of septicemia.
