Bharat Bandh – Another Inconvenience to People

Date:

TNI Bureau: The Bharat Bandh called by the NDA and Left parties on Thursday may or may not bring some positive results at the end of the day, but it is another inconvenience to people of India in 4 months. The normal life has been stand still due to nationwide shutdown today.

The NDA has called for the day-long shutdown demanding a rollback of the government’s decision on diesel price hike, cap subsidised LPG cylinders and FDI in multi-brand retail.

Even though, no major incident has been reported so far, the bandh hit life across the country. The railway, bus and auto services were blocked in all the states.

In Odisha, the train services were affected and many passengers were seen arguing with the BJP workers. Some western Odisha people complained as they had to face inconvenience due to Bandh as they were about to go to their native places to celebrate Nuakhai – a popular festival in western part of the state.

The autos and city bus were off the road in the morning. However, no scuffle has been reported from any district and region. The schools, colleges, business establishments and private offices in the state capital have been closed to avoid any unwanted situation.

Even though, the ruling BJD is not supporting the shutdown, but the protest is likely to be intense. The BJP and Left parties workers were seen blocking the roads in the heart of the city.

The Political parties, which are supporting the bandh, are BJP, JD(U), CPI(M)-led Left Front, Samajwadi Party, DMK, Traders’ body CAIT. However, Trinamool Congress, BSP, Gorkha Jana Mukti Morcha (GJMM), MNS, Shiv Sena, and BJD stayed away from the decision of shutdown.
