Self-styled godman, who is facing sexual assault charges against a minor girl, has been sent to one-day police custody by a Jodhpur Court this evening. The cops had sought a two-day police remand to conduct their investigation.

Earlier, the Jodhpur Police Commissioner held a press conference and revealed that Asaram was cooperating in the probe, but denied all allegations against him. The Police Commissioner termed Asaram’s defence as unsatisfactory. He also said that a ‘potency test’ will be conducted on Asaram soon.

Earlier, Asaram’s supporters held demonstrations and protests elsewhere in the country in his support, while some people, including Youth Congress workers registered their protest against the ‘godman’. Asaram was arrested from his Indore Ashram at 12:20 last night and then brought to Jodhpur via Delhi.
