Assam Riots Toll rises to 58, Four Lakh Homeless

TNI Bureau: The death toll in Assam Riots has now gone up to 58. Over four lakh people have been rendered homeless and living 203 relief camps set by the Assam Government.

It is learnt that 400 villages in Assam have worst hit by the communal riots between the BODO tribes and Muslim migrants. Reports of violent clashes came from Baksa near Nalbari, Kokrajhar and many other parts. Dhubri, Chirang and Bongaigaon remain tense.

People staying in relief camps have complained about lack of adequate food and water. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is monitoring the situation personally. The Army, CRPF, BSF and State Police are working together to restore peace and help in rescue and relief operations.
