TNI Bureau: Senior journalist Pushpamitra Mohanty, popularly known as Kitu, passed away on Tuesday evening at his residence in Cuttack at the age of 60 after prolonged illness.

He complained of chest pain on Tuesday afternoon and was first admitted to a private hospital in CDA before being shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Mohanty had begun his journalism career with Sambad and worked in various departments of the newspaper for more than 30 years. He was the younger son of noted Odia litterateur and former Sambad editor Surendra Mohanty.
