TNI Bureau: Student Congress demanded the resignation of School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond and staged a gherao of his official residence in Bhubaneswar, protesting alleged large-scale errors in government textbooks.
The protest was led by senior Student Congress leaders Bibhuti Bhushan Mahapatra and Spandan Swain. They alleged that more than 1,600 errors were found in school textbooks and accused the government of betraying students and parents. The agitators also demanded an apology from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and immediate corrective action.
During the demonstration, protesters displayed the “Chhabila Madhu Barnabodh” book to highlight issues in basic educational materials. Former Pradesh Student Congress president Yashir Nawaz said the state’s education system had collapsed and strongly criticized the handling of textbook preparation. Ranjit Patra and other leaders also joined the protest.
The Student Congress urged the government to remove responsible officials, ensure accountability, and reprint corrected textbooks for students without delay.
