Acid Attack Victim regains Vision after Surgery

In a big development, the 23-year-old teacher from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, who had lost her left eye in an acid attack on April 2, has regained vision after a successful surgery at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi.

The victim Isha and her three sisters (all teachers) had suffered acid attack by two men on a bike while returning from a college in Kandhal after completing their duty. The police have arrested three people, including their brother-in-law in connection with the attack.

Ironically, the brother-in-law, who masterminded the attack, was with the victim in Delhi throughout her treatment. The doctors at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital used amniotic membrane transplantation. They obtained amniotic membrane was obtained from a donor undergoing caesarean section.
