TNI Bureau: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi disbursed more than ₹315 crore to over 4.57 lakh women beneficiaries under Odisha’s flagship women-centric welfare scheme, Subhadra, through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The funds were released at a programme held at the OUAT campus in Bhubaneswar. Beneficiaries included women who had not received earlier instalments as well as those newly enrolled for the 2025–26 financial year.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said Subhadra is the largest women-focused welfare scheme in post-Independence Odisha, with an annual budget of ₹11,000 crore. Under the scheme, eligible women aged 21 to 60 years receive ₹10,000 per year in two instalments for five years, totalling ₹50,000. So far, more than one crore women have received over ₹15,000 crore in three instalments.

He said the scheme reflects the government’s commitment to women’s overall development, financial independence, and social justice, especially for rural, tribal, and economically weaker women.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida said Subhadra has empowered women to become self-reliant and start their own enterprises. Five successful beneficiaries were felicitated during the event.

Senior officials, including Ekamra Bhubaneswar MLA Babu Singh, Women and Child Development Department Principal Secretary Shubha Sharma, and Director Monisha Banerjee, were present at the programme.
