TNI Bureau: Former Korei MLA Sanchita Mohanty passed away today at her residence in Bhubaneswar following a prolonged illness. She was 67.
According to reports, Mohanty had been suffering from health issues for a long time and was recently admitted to a hospital for treatment. However, her condition did not improve, and she later breathed her last at home.
Sanchita Mohanty was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly in 2004 from the Korei Assembly constituency as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate. She represented the constituency for one term, from 2004 to 2009.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi paid his last respects and offered tribute after having a final darshan of her mortal remains. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed to Lord Jagannath for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
Leaders across party lines and residents of the Korei constituency also expressed deep sorrow over her demise, remembering her as a committed public representative who worked for local development during her tenure.
