TNI Bureau: Odisha Vigilance conducted simultaneous searches at five locations connected to Niranjan Satapathy, a Forester posted under the Forest Division, Koraput, in connection with allegations of possession of disproportionate assets.
According to official sources, the searches are being carried out on the basis of warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar. The operation is being led by six Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), assisted by seven Inspectors and other supporting staff of the Vigilance Department.
Vigilance teams carried out searches at two triple-storeyed buildings located at Jharpada in Bhubaneswar—on plot No. 408/2390/6388 and plot No. 408/2390/6274. Searches were also conducted at his parental house at Bila village under Mukundapur police limits in Jagatsinghpur district, his government residential quarter at Semiluguda in Koraput district, and his office room at Semiluguda under the Koraput Forest Division.
The searches form part of an ongoing investigation to verify whether the forester has amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Further details are awaited as the operation and scrutiny of records are still underway.
