TNI Bureau: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) today announced the withdrawal of its students’ agitation and appealed to protesters at Jantar Mantar to disperse peacefully, claiming that the government had accepted all of its demands following the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET (UG) examination controversy.

Addressing a joint press conference at the Constitution Club of India along with Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh, CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das said the government had agreed to withdraw FIRs filed against students in Delhi and BJP-ruled states. He added that details of the cases registered against protesters would also be shared with the organisation.

Saurav Das said the CJP had sought written assurances from the government on the agreed points and expected to receive them in the coming days. He also alleged that some anti-social elements had infiltrated the protests and were responsible for incidents of violence during the agitation.

CJP national spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said the government had accepted the demand for financial assistance to the families of NEET aspirants who died by suicide, subject to applicable rules and procedures.

He further stated that another round of discussions between the government and the CJP would be held in about four weeks to deliberate on a broader set of proposed reforms related to examinations.

Union Minister JP Nadda said the Centre had considered the demands raised by the CJP and agreed to them. He added that the government would also examine the organisation’s suggestions for reforms in the examination system and take appropriate steps.

The CJP, led by Abhijeet Dipke, had been spearheading protests at Jantar Mantar, demanding Pradhan’s resignation over the alleged NEET paper leak. The agitation lasted for 36 days and included the “Chalo Sansad” march on July 20, during which clashes were reported between protesters and police.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned on Saturday, stating that recent developments had deeply saddened him and that the issue was not a matter of personal prestige.

Following the announcement, celebrations were reported at the protest site, with supporters waving the national flag and raising slogans as the CJP formally called off the agitation.
