Amidst sweeping international sanctions on Russia for invading Ukraine, India is planning to boost shipments to Russia by an additional $2 billion as the two nations work out a payment system in local currencies to continue bilateral trade.
The S&P BSE Sensex rose 427.45 points (0.73 per cent) to touch 59,003.82 while the Nifty 50 rose 133.35 points (0.76 per cent) to 17,663.65 during early trade.
The NSE Nifty 50 index was down 0.78 per cent or 138.25 points at 17,536.70, while the S&P BSE Sensex fell 0.67 per cent or 397.37 points to 58,567.20.
Insight Bureau: The 30-share BSE Sensex tumbled 483 points or 0.81 per cent to close at 58,965, while the broader NSE Nifty moved 109 points or 0.62 per cent lower to settle at 17,675.
The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 224 points or 0.38 per cent to 59,223 in early trade, while the broader NSE Nifty moved 43 points or 0.24 per cent up to 17,740.
