Odisha Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik has suspended Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha MP Ramachandra Hansda and former Keonjhar MLA Subarna Nayak from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) after they were arrested by the CBI in connection with Nabadiganta chit fund scam.

Earlier, Naveen had suspended Banki MLA Pravat Tripathy from the party following his arrest in connection with the AT Group chit fund scam. More BJD leaders are likely to land in this multi-crore ponzi scam, which may create further trouble for BJD and Naveen Patnaik.

Meanwhile, the Congress and BJP have slammed the BJD Government, saying more ruling party leaders were involved in the chit fund scam and that they would be exposed soon. However, the BJD tried to put up a volt face, saying the party cannot be held responsible for individual misconduct.
