TNI Bureau: In a major disciplinary action following the shocking mob lynching incident on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, the Commissionerate Police has suspended 4 police personnel and initiated action against 2 Home Guards attached to Balianta Police Station and PCR units.
According to official information released by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Bhubaneswar, 3 personnel attached to the Balianta Police Station vehicle staff, have been suspended. The suspended officials include one Sub-Inspector (SI), one Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), and one Odisha Auxiliary Police Force (OAPF) personnel.
In addition, a Home Guard associated with the police station vehicle unit has been issued notice for discontinuation of service from the Home Guard organisation.
Action has also been taken against staff deployed in PCR-42 vehicle operations. One constable has been placed under suspension, while another Home Guard has been served notice for discontinuation from service.
Overall, four police personnel have been suspended in connection with the incident, while two Home Guards are facing removal from duty.
Meanwhile, Balianta Police Station Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Anil Kumar Parida has been attached to the Bhubaneswar Urban Police District (UPD) headquarters. Inspector Rashmita Behera has been posted as the new IIC of Balianta Police Station.
The disciplinary measures come amid growing outrage and scrutiny over the handling of the mob lynching case, which has triggered serious concerns regarding policing, response mechanisms, and law and order in the capital outskirts.
