TNI Bureau: In the CMO Missing Files Case, Bhubaneswar Capital Police have issued notices to two retired officers as part of the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of two important inquiry reports. The Odisha government had earlier ordered a police probe and directed registration of an FIR after the reports could not be traced despite repeated searches.
The missing documents include the Justice A.S. Naidu Commission report on the killing of VHP leader Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati and his associates in Kandhamal, and the inquiry report on the SUM Hospital fire tragedy in Bhubaneswar. Officials said both reports had been sent to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) for necessary action but later went missing.
As part of the investigation, Former IT Secretary Manoj Kumar Mishra and former Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) Chairperson Rajesh Verma have been asked to appear before the Investigating Officer at Capital Police Station, Bhubaneswar, on July 22 at 11 a.m. Police have directed them to cooperate with the probe and bring any documents, records, electronic devices or other materials related to the case. The notices were issued under Section 179 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.
