Delhi Gangrape Victim to get Global Honour

Date:

TNI Bureau: The 23-year-old Delhi gangrape victim, who fought bravely against six wild men before being brutally assaulted and breathed her last at a Singapore Hospital, would be posthumously honoured by the United States. She will get the International Women of Courage Award for inspiring people to fight against gender-based violence.

The award would be presented to her by US First Lady Michelle Obama and US Secretary of State John Kerry on March 8 – The International Women’s Day. This award will be given to 10 women across the globe.

“For millions of Indian women, her personal ordeal, perseverance to fight for justice, and her family’s continued bravery is helping to lift the stigma and vulnerability that drive violence against women,” the State Department said.
