Alfred Ford Sponsors Mammoth ISKCON Temple

The biggest and cherished temple of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) will be built at Mayapur in West Bengal and a big share of the expense will be donpatoe by Alfred Brush Ford, the great grandson of legendary Henry Ford, the founder of Ford Motor Company.

The proposed ‘Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir’ will be world’s largest Vedic temple that will be built in Mayapur in the Nadia district of West Bengal. The revered place is the birthplace of Prabhu Shree Chaitanya, the Great devotee of Lord Shree Krishna. Alfred is the Chairman of the Chandrodaya Mandir Construction Committee and is also taking care of the same for last 15 years.

This will be the largest ever construction project of ISKCON and the approximated cost of the project will be $75 million. The proposed temple will be 340 feet tall, which will spread over an area of 1, 25,000 sq feet and it will be ready by 2016 as per reports. Most importantly, The President of United States, the Queen of United Kingdom and the President of India will be personally present during the inauguration of the temple in 2016 as per reports.

The temple will also house the largest Kirtan Hall in the world where more than 10 thousand people can dance at a time with the enchanting tune of the holy hymn.
Alfred, who is otherwise known as Saint Ambarisha Dash says that he came to India in 1976 and went to know the philosophy of Lord Krishna from Shill Mahaprabhu, the founder of ISKCON and now feels him extremely fortunate to avail the opportunity.

While Alfred will donpatoe about 40% of the fund, for the rest ISKCON has launched “donate a sq ft’ programme, according to which anybody can donate for the rest which will cost Rs.7000 per sq feet.
