TNI Bureau: Dimple Yadav, wife of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, should enjoy a walkover in Kannauj as not a single party is contesting the Lok Sabha by-poll against her.

Dimpal is the only candidate for Kannauj parliamentary seat in Uttar Pradesh as major opposition parties BJP and BSP have decided not to field their candidates against her in the by-poll.

Mayawati, who was forced out of power by Akhilesh, has decided not to field a candidate against his wife.

Earlier, Congress had made it clear that the party is not going to contest the Kannauj by-poll. The Samajwadi Party seems to be the strongest after the landmark victory in recent assembly polls.
