Delhi Police to recruit 2,508 Policewomen

TNI Bureau: Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on growing number of crimes against women said that more women police officials will be recruited at the police stations to protect the women in the national capital. After chairing a meeting, which was attended by all the chief secretaries of the states, Shinde said that strong laws will be made to control the brutal crime in the city.

Addressing a press conference in Delhi after the meeting, Shinde said that women safety is the government’s responsibility. The police must take the responsibility to protect the women in the city. Expressing concern over women security, he said that 2,508 Policewomen will be recruited by the department. He said that 10 lady constables, more women inspectors will be appointed at all the police stations.

He said that fast action will be taken by police without delay. The rapists will be chargesheeted soon. Shinde had called for the meeting today seeking the suggestion of the chief secretaries, and top level police officers to check the crime like rape in the city. On Thursday, Delhi police filed 30-page chargesheet against five accused in connection with the brutal gangrape of 23-year-old para-medical student.
