50 Quintal Rice Found Thrown at a Canal in Puri

Date:

TNI Bureau: It is most unfortunate that the state, where a number of starvation death cases are seen, about 50 quintals of rice were found thrown at a canal of Puri district in Odisha.

Pradipta Kumar Samantray, the Panchayat Samiti member (Samiti Sabhya) of Sadar block Puri has filed a written complaint before the Chief Secretary of Odisha that on 14 th December morning around 50 quintals of rice were found thrown at a canal of Kanas village, that comes under the Sadar block in Puri district. People took away about half of the wet rice before the supply department officials collected sample of the rice and the bag containing the stuff for further verification.

When contacted, the district collector of Puri expressed his ignorance in this matter, but the sub-collector assured to employ a taskforce to look into the matter.

It is strange to see that, Puri Sadar block, which is well known for being a flourished one, witnessed such an unfortunate incident. In addition, it has not been known yet that why someone wasted this much amount of un-boiled (arua) eatable rice to be flown in a canal.

Mr. Samantray has asked the state government to investigate the matter and to take necessary action against the wrong-doer, who is responsible for this bulk wastage of eatable rice.
