HP Polls: CM Prem Kumar Dhumal accepts Defeat

Date:

TNI Bureau: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal accepted his party’s defeat as Congress is leading in most of the constituencies, winning 25 out of 68 seats. Expressing his displeasure over the results, he said that the party will discuss the reasons and analyse why they failed to win people’s confidence.

While Congress won 25 seats, BJP won only 18, and others won 5, which showed that people chose Congress over BJP. People of Himachal Pradesh wanted a change. Like Gujarat, the saffron party could not able to show its charisma in Himachal even though Narendra Modi had campaigned for the party in the state.

As of 1:15 pm, Congress is leading in 11 seats, while BJP in 8 seats and others in one seat. Speaking to a news channel, Dhumal said, “I congratulate Virbhadra Singh and all candidates who have won. We will analyse why we were defeated.”

His son Anurag Thakur said, “Despite our good work, if we lost then it needs serious introspection. There were some problems with ticket distribution. There were problems with some districts that we were confident of”.
