British Royal Hospital Nurse dies after taking Hoax Call

Date:

TNI Bureau: In a shocking incident, a nurse at the King Edward VII hospital in London, where the Duchess of Cambridge – Prince William’s pregnant wife Kate Middleton – was treated, was found dead on Friday in a suspected way three days after taking the hoax phone call from an Australian radio station.

The nurse Jacintha Saldanha (46) was working at the Royal family’s hospital for more than four years. She was found dead at her lodgings close to the King Edward VII hospital, central London, at 9.25am on Friday.

The victim is the mother of two teenage children. Two presenters from Australia’s 2Day radio station had called the hospital early on Tuesday, posing as William’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth and the Prince of Wales Prince Charles. Believing them to be genuine or true Queen and Prince, the nurse gave them medical details of Kate’s condition.

Three days after the call, the nurse was found dead at a flat in Weymouth Street, central London. Police found Saldanha’s unconscious body. Later, she was pronounced dead.

The duchess Kate, who was admitted to the hospital on Monday afternoon following acute morning sickness, hyperemesis gravidarum, was discharged on Thursday.

In a statement, the duke William and duchess said that they were deeply saddened by the death of the nurse, who treated Kate.

However, it is believed that that the call plays a key role behind the death of the nurse. The hospital is the first choice for the royal family. It is understood that the radio presenters Mel Greig and Michael Christian had called the hospital when no receptionist was on duty and the nurse picked up the phone.
