Karzai meets Manmohan; India, Afghanistan sign MoUs

TNI Bureau: Afghan President Hamid Karzai met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and sought more cooperation between India and Afghanistan in the investment sector. India and Afghanistan signed four MoUs in fertlizers, mining, small projects and youth affairs.

Karzai expressed hopes that the Indo-Afghan talks would further enhance the friendship between both countries. Prime Minister Dr. Singh reiterated India’s support and commitment to Afghanistan in the nation-building process and but sought more security to the Indian establishments. He reaffirmed India’s support to a strong, prosperous and sovereign Afghanistan.

“There is a need for strategic partnership with Afghanistan. We will continue to support development in that country. International support is needed to combat terrorism in Afghanistan and take development forward,” said Dr. Manmohan Singh.
