NRI woman convicted in Mumbai hit-and-run case

TNI Bureau: An NRI beautician was convicted in 2010 hit-and-run case in which two people were killed. The convict Nooriya Haveliwala has been sentenced to five years in jail. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on her for the crime.

The tests showed that Haveliwala was driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol on January 30, 2010. She rammed her car into a police vehicle, a taxi and a motorcycle while she was returning from a party at Malabar Hill in Mumbai. Two people were killed including a police man in the incident.
