SC stays High Court Verdict on Singur

Date:

TNI Bureau: In a relief for Mamata-led West Bengal government, the Supreme Court on Friday stayed the Calcutta High Court verdict that had struck down Singur Land Acquisition Act as unconstitutional.

The court issued a notice to the Firm seeking response on a special leave petition filed by the West Bengal government challenging the quashing of the Singur Act by the high court.

Earlier, the high court had given the state government 2 months to appeal before the apex court while hearing on Tata Motors’ appeal against a trial court order upholding the Act.
