Rebels kidnap Libyan Prime Minister Ali Zeidan
In a shocking development, which triggered concerns across the globe, Libyan Prime Minister Ali Zeidan has been abducted by a group of armed men from a hotel in Tripoli.
Zeidan has been taken to an unknown destination. The Libyan government has confirmed the abduction. Earlier, the PM’s office denied the report, but later admitted that they were forced to do so by the rebels.
Ali Zeidan was staying at Corinthian Hotel in Tripoli. He was reportedly taken by the gunmen in a convoy of waiting cars. There were no reports of any gunfight. Zeidan’s abduction came days after he sought the Western intervention to stop the rise of militancy in Libya.
