Bamboo Plantation in Odisha – At A Glance
Bhubaneswar: Bamboo, found extensively in Odisha is the versatile building and structural material of the future. The Govt. of Odisha is keen to address all aspects of Bamboo development. Govt have constituted Odisha Bamboo Development Agency (OBDA) at the state level and District Bamboo Development Agency (DBDA) at the District level. With the help of national Bamboo Mission, OBDA has taken up programmes like bamboo plantation, and capacity building of Artisans.
A centre for Bamboo Training and Product Development has been proposed. The Centre will provide training to the bamboo artisans for upgrading their skill, product development and entrepreneurship development. During 2012-13, bamboo plantation has been taken up over 3083 ha. In last five years, 11804 ha. has been covered under Bamboo plantation in the State.
