Bhubaneswar: This scheme started during the year 2007-08. The Odisha Forest Development Corporation has prepared a Scheme under the above component for tall tree planting in & around Bhubaneswar City Areas. Subsequently, this scheme covered other cities with aim to increase tree cover and to combat heat pressure in summer.

Around 8.83 lakhs tall sapling have been planted/distributed in urban areas like Sambalpur, Bolangir, Anugul, Talcher, Kanhia, Cuttack, Choudwar, Berhampur, Baripada and Balasore etc with a budget provision of Rs. 1454.97 lakhs during 2012-13.
